T-Cell Killing
Type 1 Diabetes
KEY ADVANTAGES
Model the immune response of type 1 diabetes

HLA-A2+ MODEL

T-CELL DESTRUCTION

INFLAMMATORY CYTOKINE SECRETION

PBMCs & SORTED T-CELLS
Type 1 diabetes is characterized by the autoimmune destruction of pancreatic β-cells, largely driven by pro-inflammatory T cells. Modeling these immune–β-cell interactions is key for understanding disease mechanisms and developing immunomodulatory therapies.
Human Cell Design offers a physiologically relevant co-culture assay based on HLA-A2 EndoC-βH5® human pancreatic β cells and activated T cells, enabling direct assessment of T cell-mediated cytotoxicity.
APPLICATIONS

A human-relevant system to assess β-cell vulnerability to immune attack
Screen your compounds for β-cell protective or immunomodulatory properties using a reproducible, translational assay
